VIDEO: Saucy O’Sullivan prompts a probe by snooker chiefs

Ronnie O'Sullivan courted controversy by making suggestive comments at a news conference following defeat by Marco Fu at the China Open.

World Snooker, the sport's governing body, is reviewing a video of the media briefing in Beijing, having already seen it. On the footage, O'Sullivan can be heard making lewd remarks and sexual innuendos in front of the assembled journalists.

The 32-year-old Englishman also brandished a hand-held microphone suggestively.

O'Sullivan was fined last May after walking out of a match against Stephen Hendry and was banned and fined in 1996 for assaulting a snooker official.

Former world champion Shaun Murphy upset home favourite Ding Junhui to book his place in the quarter-finals.

The Rotherham player edged to a 5-4 victory and will now play Belfast's Mark Allen.

Murphy said: "I'm sure the match was great entertainment for anyone watching.

"We both had some good and bad luck throughout the match, but Ding was unlucky in the last frame to leave the final brown ball over the pocket.

"It couldn't have finished in a better place for me."

A disappointed Ding said: "I played okay, but I had some bad luck in the last frame."
