Villa and Chelsea still deadlocked in talks over Sidwell's move north

Aston Villa were still in talks with Chelsea yesterday over a fee for midfielder Steve Sidwell. As Sportsmail revealed, Martin O’Neill is hoping to putting a deal in place but Villa had not had their £5.5m bid accepted last night.

Sidwell is expected to receive half of the fee as part of a pay-off from Chelsea. Villa are also keen on Steaua Bucharest defender Nicolae Dorin Goian, 27 and Valencia full-back Miguel.
