Villa boss O'Neill set to end Bent's Tottenham misery

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is planning a January bid for Tottenham striker Darren Bent.

The People says Spurs boss Juande Ramos knows his second-choice strikers, Bent and Jermain Defoe, are unsettled.

The Spurs board are open to the idea of allowing one of the duo to leave in January but not both.

Manchester United are considering a bid for Defoe.
