Villa get green light to offer £11m for Portugal right-back Miguel

Martin O'Neill is ready to make an £11million bid for Portugal star Miguel - and finally end his hunt for a right-back.

The Aston Villa boss has been told how much is needed to sign Miguel from Valencia this summer and is set to table an offer later this week.

Miguel is desperate to leave Valencia after the Spanish club struggled last season and The Mirror reports that O'Neill has been given the green light by chairman Randy Lerner to spend big.

Villa were without a recognised right-back for most of last season, playing centre-half Olof Mellberg in the position.

But after losing No.1 target Jose Bosingwa to Chelsea, O'Neill will now turn to the Portugal international.
