Villa in frame to make Carson deal permanent after Liverpool drop price

Great Scott: Carson might be spending more time in a Villa shirt

Scott Carson is set to leave Liverpool after their manager Rafa Benitez agreed to drop his asking price from £10million to around £6million.

Aston Villa look most likely to sign him, with Martin O'Neill already having spent £1.75million as part of this season's loan deal.

Carson played 35 times for Villa durig this campaign.

Another man set to leave Anfield during the summer is Harry Kewell, with Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp lining up a £50,000-a-week deal for the Australian international.

Benitez faces a crucial few months of activity before next season, after another disappointing season for the Merseysiders, with another fourth placed finish in the Premier League and European Cup defeat to Chelsea.
