Andriy arrives: Voronin is not at Anfield to 'make up the numbers'
"I have always believed I have a strong character and that it shows on the pitch. I have come here to play in the first team and I have a few training sessions and preseason friendlies to show I am worth a place."
Meanwhile, Scott Carson has called for showdown talks with Benitez after fearing another season on the bench at Anfield might scupper his dream of becoming England's first-choice keeper for Euro 2008.
Eager to build on his outstanding form at the recent European Under-21 Championships, Liverpool's £1m signing from Leeds believes regular first-team football next season is essential.
He will see Benitez over the next few days after being taken aback by the Liverpool manager's stance that he must continue his fight with Pepe Reina for the No 1 spot at Anfield.
Bolton, Sunderland, Birmingham and Aston Villa are among a host of clubs eager to sign him, following an impressive loan spell at Charlton, and Benitez is likely to relent and listen to offers of around £4m.
Liverpool have signed 18-year-old Stockport winger Ryan Crowther for an undisclosed fee.
Crowther, who has made just two first-team appearances, impressed on trial for Liverpool during an international tournament in Milan and the Anfield club have now agreed a fee, with a routine medical on Monday.
Liverpool also recently signed 14-year-old goalkeeper Ben Robinson from County's school of excellence.
