Wallabies's secret drop-goal training to avenge Wilko's winner

Australia have been secretly practising drop-goals in the build-up to Saturday's World Cup quarter-final against England.

Four years after Jonny Wilkinson's extra-time drop goal clinched the Webb Ellis trophy in Sydney, the Wallabies captain Stirling Mortlock revealed: "It is something we have been practising a fair bit. Matt Giteau and Berrick Barnes have been working hard.

'Wary': Stirling Mortlock believes the return of Jonny Wilkinson has been a big boost to England

"It is an option when you want to put pressure on teams in good field position. You have seen field goals becoming pretty prevalent so far in the World Cup and as the pressure increases, they will become more and more vital."

Then Mortlock confessed: "We are very wary of England. They've progressed throughout the tournament. No doubt their confidence has improved too. Having Wilkinson back has composed their team a lot."

Martin Corry insists England's "Crazy Horse" flanker Lewis Moody will be fine for the biggest England game in four years despite taking two huge hits in the win over Tonga last Saturday.

Corry said of his Leicester team-mate: "I didn't envy the doctor who had to treat him against Tonga - even when Lewis is at his sharpest, it's difficult to tell if he's concussed or not."

Moody himself said: "A whack on the head gets you involved in the game. People have said I should try to temper the way I play but I wouldn't be bringing what I bring to the game."

Australia have axed the World Cup's leading try scorer Drew Mitchell (seven in four games) and opted for Adam Ashley-Cooper on the right wing.
