Laid up: Justin Rose
David Leadbetter, former coach to Nick Faldo, claimed that swing changes made by new guru Nick Bradley had contributed to the trouble.
Rose was sidelined for four weeks before the Masters with disc trouble.
Bradley, an understudy to Leadbetter from 1994 to 1997, said his ex-mentor was wrong and should mind his own business.
He said: "As one of the leading golf coaches in the world, I dismiss David's comments. My record as a coach speaks for itself.
"The work I've done with Justin has made his swing more biomechanically sound and made him less injury prone than before.
"He had this injury in 2002 when he withdrew from the Qatar Masters. So it's nothing new."
Rose, who ended his eight-year relationship with Leadbetter last August, has attributed his return to form, after three years outside the top 50, to Bradley.
