Wasps switch Cup opener to Coventry

Heineken Cup champions Wasps have switched the opening match of their trophy defence against 2006 title-holders Munster to Coventry's Ricoh Arena.

The move to a stadium which usually hosts matches for the city's football club will increase capacity for the high-profile game from 10,000 at Adams Park to 32,000.

Last season the stadium also hosted Wasps' 30-13 semi-final victory over Northampton Saints and director of rugby Ian McGeechan believes moving the November 10 fixture makes sense.

"This has the potential to be a very special game, and I am delighted that we are returning to the Ricoh Arena," he said.

"I'm looking forward to returning and I hope, with the increased capacity, Wasps supporters will come along in numbers to see us begin the defence of our European crown."
