We let Kop down, says Carragher

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes the team could have been league champions this season if they had performed as well as the Kop have.

Rafa Benitez's side face Blackburn today in the pursuit of fourth place with the atmosphere at Anfield likely to be low-key compared with another magical European night against Arsenal last Tuesday.

Instead of blaming the supporters for saving their voices for the Champions League, however, Carragher has said the Liverpool players have not given them enough to shout about in the league.

'It's up to us to perform better in the Premier League to get the crowd going,' he said. 'We can't use the fans as an excuse. If we'd done half as well as the crowd this season, we would probably be in the run-in.'
