We won at Milan, so let's do the same at Anfield, says Gallas

European nights at Anfield are, of course, the stuff of legend and no place for the faint-hearted. And with Liverpool holding the slender advantage of an away goal after Wednesday's 1-1 first-leg draw, Gallas is under no illusions about the difficulty of the task in hand.

Kuyt flying: Gallas can't believe it as Kuyt celebrates Liverpool's equaliser
How will it compare to last month's game at the San Siro, where Arsenal triumphed 2-0 after being held to a goalless draw at home? 'We have to do that again, maybe more,' said Gallas. 'It will be different because AC Milan don't play the same style of football as Liverpool.
'We played at a very high tempo against Milan but against Liverpool it will be difficult because they play a game like this every weekend. They will be ready.
'We have been good all season and if we win at Anfield it will be excellent because getting to the Champions League semi-finals would be better than last season.'
Emmanuel Adebayor, aware Arsenal were written off by many before a ball was kicked this season, is keen to prove the detractors wrong yet again. 'We have drawn and know it's going to be very tough at Anfield,' said Adebayor, who regained his scoring touch on Wednesday after a month-long drought.
'They defend well and have a good squad. But we have to keep our confidence high. We know we have quality and the mental strength to win there.
'A lot of people will discount us now but we have to show them they are wrong. We did well against Milan, now it is another challenge at Liverpool. We have to believe in ourselves.'
Against the backdrop of the Kop in full voice, it will be incumbent on Gallas to provide the necessary leadership for Arsenal's young side.
The France defender's bizarre antics in February's draw at Birmingham brought his suitability for the armband into sharp focus, although Arsene Wenger was quick to assert his credentials in the aftermath.
Gallas is appreciative of his manager's backing and is relishing the task of leading the team on such a grand occasion, one which could prove third time lucky for him following two unsuccessful Champions League semi-finals against Liverpool while at Chelsea. 'You know I try to do my best for the team, for the club,' he said.
'I'm happy here, I'm happy because the manager supports me. Now I have to give everything until the end.
'We have to go to Anfield and take our opportunity. We have to play our football and try to beat them. All the boys are ready for the big fight because it will be a big fight.'
Saturday's Barclays Premier League meeting between the clubs at the Emirates represents far more than a dress rehearsal for Arsenal, given its significance to their fading title bid. Gallas admitted: 'We have to win every game and that will not be easy.'
But it is safe to assume Liverpool will be dedicating the majority of their energies to Tuesday's second leg, with the European Cup their only hope of silverware.
