Wednesday hit back over Rasiak saga

Sheffield Wednesday chief executive Kaven Walker has hit back at Southampton in the ongoing Grzegorz Rasiak transfer saga after the Saints reported Owls boss Brian Laws to the Football League.

Walker has given Laws the club's full backing following his comments regarding Southampton's position in the collapse of Rasiak's proposed £2million transfer to Hillsborough.

Laws claimed Southampton made an unexplained last-minute u-turn after the two clubs had agreed a fee for the Polish striker.

Speaking to the club's official website on Thursday, the Owls boss said: "I have seen the contents of the letter from Southampton and they accepted a substantial offer but they have now changes their demands. It has been very frustrating because they changed the goalposts."

Southampton then issued a statement revealing their intention to refer the case to the Football League on Thursday but Walker believes that Laws was perfectly within his rights to make the comment.

"We are fully supportive of our manager with regard to this matter and we have no reason to believe that Brian Laws has been in breach of any regulations set out by the Football League," Walker said.
