Wenger calls for video aid as Clichy 'goal' is ruled out

Arsene Wenger wants the introduction of goal-line technology after referee Terje Hauge disallowed a deflected Gael Clichy cross which television replays showed was carried into the net by Steaua Bucharest goalkeeper Robinson Zapata.

The officials didn't have a clear view but TV replays showed the ball was over the line.

Wenger, who also claimed Arsenal should have had a penalty after a foul on Robin van Persie, said: "The penalty looked to me obvious and TV showed the ball crossed the line.

"I did not see whether it crossed. ITV said no, but Romanian TV said yes. I would have thought it would have been the other way round!

"It's unbelievable, but it's one more call for goal-line technology. I hope it happens soon, and not just for the goal-line."
