Wenger favourite Benzema happy to stay at Lyon

Young France striker Karim Benzema has promised his Olympique Lyon club, hosting Nice on Saturday, he has no intention to leave.

Benzema, who will turn 20 next week, is Ligue 1's top scorer with 12 goals and was outstanding in Wednesday's 3-0 Champions League win at Rangers, setting up Lyon's first goal before scoring twice.

Striking ability: Benzema is regarded as one of Europe's hottest prospects

He has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a known admirer.

He told Eurosport: "In France he scored 11 goals in 10 games and he has fantastic efficiency.

"But he is also a good link player, he is not only a goalscorer, and I believe he could be an immense revelation at the 2008 European Championship."

But Benzema, who has a contract until 2012, told French radio channel RTL "I have many things still to achieve with Lyon. I will stay until we win the Champions League. After that, we will see."
