Wenger wants a top Gunner

The Arsenal manager, who has admitted to this season being a failure, is convinced his young team will be better next time around, especially if he can find one or two top players, possibly to replace Thierry Henry amid speculation that the France star may leave in the months ahead.
Scroll down to read more:
"I don't need to add quantity to the squad," said Wenger. "But I will add super quality if I can find it. I don't know how much money I will have to spend this summer but I do know funds will be made available. In truth, I do not feel there is much wrong with the squad.
"You have to remember the season's circumstances. We have lost the likes of Vieira, Bergkamp, Cole, Campbell, Pires, Edu, Keown and Wiltord in the last two seasons. When France reached the World Cup Final last summer I knew we'd be in trouble this season. Thierry Henry was exhausted. Then we had the move to the new stadium. It's impossible to start well in a new stadium.
"And finally we had so many injuries to so many key players. When Chelsea lost a couple of key players it cost them the League title."
Despite this, Arsenal reached the Carling Cup Final, where their youngsters lost to Chelsea and, with their last game at Portsmouth today, can finish the Premiership season in third if they better Liverpool's result against Charlton.
"I'm not happy that we will finish the season without a trophy and in fourth or maybe third in the Premiership," said Wenger. "But we have at least achieved our minimum requirements and we will look back on this season in a few years and realise with everything that happens to us, it wasn't too bad."
That said, Wenger recognises where his young Gunners need to improve. "Our conversion rate was poor and we started too slowly too often," he said. "I have all the statistics and they tell me that we took the lead in the League on 16 occasions, won 14 of them and drew two, both against Chelsea. But we fell behind 20 times. We scored 21 goals in the last 15 minutes of a game, seven more than anyone else, and that shows great characters in mental strength, but we still made life very hard for ourselves. It's just a lack of experience."
So what of next season? Will Arsenal learn from this season's failings? "I think so, yes," said Wenger. "They will be one year older, they are unhappy with this season, and we will take advantage of all the lessons we've learned."
Wenger would like to leapfrog Liverpool and finish third but he does not expect Rafa Benitez's men to mess up against relegated Charlton.
"Anfield is Anfield," he said. "And there will be players knowing that a poor performance could affect their place in the Champions League final."
As for Saturday's FA Cup Final, he has Manchester United down to beat Chelsea. "United have the psychological edge because they could win the Double and, having just won the League title, they are on a high," he said.
