Recruitment drive: Gunners boss Wenger
Arsenal are close to securing a deal for Werder Bremen midfielder Amaury Bischoff.
The 21-year-old claims the move is set to go ahead now that Arsene Wenger, who was at last night's Euro 2008 Final, is returning to London.
It has been reported in France that Bischoff is already in England to have his medical and has been aware of Arsenal's interest for six months.
Boss Wenger wants to strengthen his midfield after Mathieu Flamini joined AC Milan, although Bischoff admits he will probably have to wait for a chance of first-team football.
The Portugal Under-21 international said: 'A few details are still to be finalised, but I'm hopeful I'll sign in the next few days. Arsenal are a step higher .'
Injuries have hampered his career and he said: 'I think I'll play for the reserves first to recover my fitness. Then it's up to me to earn my place.'
