We're not going to Bayern to keep the score down, insists Megson

Leading scorer Nicolas Anelka, El-Hadji Diouf and Ivan Campo have all been ruled out of the UEFA Cup match against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena tomorrow.
Megson: 'We are not going to come here and try and keep the score down'
Anelka is still suffering from a hamstring strain while Diouf turned his ankle in the battling 1-1 draw against West Ham on Sunday.
Campo has started the last two league games under Megson but his return came too late for him to be registered in the competition.
Given that Bayern are one of top brands in world football, not to mention top of the Bundesliga, the odds appear stacked against Bolton.
Megson, however, insists they will give it a go in this group match. He said: "We are not going to come here and try and keep the score down.
"We will not go for a 0-0 as we are not particularly good at that aspect of the game.
"The format of the competition is that you have to try and get results when you can and that's our aim tomorrow."
Megson knows at first hand that football has a habit of producing shock results. He was an unused substitute in 1993 when Norwich defeated Bayern 2-1 in their former home at the Olympic Stadium.
Megson still savours the memory of that night even though he did not kick a ball in anger.
He said: "No-one expected Norwich to do as well as they did. But some of the players went on to have good careers.
"A result like that is what makes football the great game it is.
"People expect a certain result and the way a game is going to go but it doesn't always follow that pattern."
Bolton had to settle for a home draw in the first match of the group stage against Portugal side Braga.
Bayern are a step up in class and widely expected to finish top of the table.
Bolton also have to face Aris Salonika at the Reebok Stadium and Red Star in Belgrade with the top three teams progressing.
There are signs already under Megson that Bolton are proving difficult opponents again.
A stoppage time goal by Kevin Nolan at Upton Park gave them a point and boosted their confidence ahead of European competition.
"One the lads said yesterday it was a morale booster to watch the video from that game," said Megson.
"There are some fantastic players here and everything about this club is top drawer."
Megson has added two youngsters in James Sinclair and Robert Sissons to make up the numbers.
Nicky Hunt, Abdoulaye Meite, Joey O'Brien, Christian Wilhelmsson and Ricardo Vaz Te are also absent and needing treatment.
Megson said: "While it is more advantageous to have a full squad to pick from, you have just got to cope with injuries. You have to try and remain positive and there are players who will get opportunities against Bayern."
