Scott Carson has been given the first sign that he will not be England’s forgotten man as he prepares to face .
Fabio Capello’s goalkeeping coach, Ray Clemence, was at The Hawthorns last week to run the rule over both Carson and West Ham’s Robert Green and the former did his cause no end of good with a superb stop in the last minute from Scott Parker to earn West Bromwich their first league win of the season.
However, Carson maintains he has nothing to prove either to England or former boss Martin O’Neill at Aston Villa.
Baggies keeper Scott Carson insists England exile is not playing on his mind
He said: ‘The only people I have to impress are the people at West Brom, the manager, players and supporters.
‘This is where I am now and last season is in the past.
'I’ve got nothing to prove to Villa.
‘I wanted to get games under my belt and I did that.
'The manager didn’t say a lot to me at the end of the season.
'He gave me the impression that he was looking for a more experienced keeper.
‘He told me that and a few weeks later he signed Brad Friedel, so that’s fair enough really.’
Albion boss Tony Mowbray said: ‘You see what you see through your own eyes and you back your judgment.
'I see him every day and he’s been good in training.
'He is a top goalie and can only get better.
‘I’m pretty sure if he keeps doing the things he is doing then he can get back into the England fold.’
