Wigan miss out on Croatia striker Klasnic because of the cold weather

Wigan manager Steve Bruce has pulled out of the race for Croatia's Euro 2008 striker Ivan Klasnic - because it is too cold for him in the Premier League.

Bruce's medical team looked into hit man Klasnic's background and found out that he needs to play in a warm climate because of a kidney problem.

The former Werder Bremen forward - who scored twice for the Croats in the finals - needed a kidney transplant a year ago and his body suffers when he lives in colder climates.

Now Klasnic is talking to Spanish side Mallorca and also Nantes although the French side's weather is little better than England's.

However, Bruce is out of the chase because of the medical factor despite a club delegation flying to see the player at the Euros in the last few weeks.
