WIMBLEDON DAY TWO - All the action from SW19
24 June 2008
1925: Extraordinary match between O'Brien and Peer. Katie followed up her success in the opening set by racing into a 5-0 lead in the second set. Match over in virtually everyone's books but the lady from Israel has other ideas and rattles off six games in a row to lead 6-5.
1904: Andy Roddick, who could well have already won this title if it wasn't for the brilliance of Roger Federer, is safely through to the next round. The former US Open champion beat Argentine Eduardo Schwank 7-5, 6-4, 7-6 (7-0).
1857: Murray was just teasing us - he has upped his game splendidly again, and takes the second set 6-4.
Tim Henman may have gone but the British supporters have a new hero to cheer on
1845: Britain's Katie O'Brien takes the first set against Shahar Peer on court 17.
1840: Lindsay Davenport, the champion in 1999, is playing a deciding set against Renata Voracova of the Czech Republic.
1830: Santoro breaks the Murray serve to take an advantage in the second set. It might just be one of those classic roller coaster rides that we came to expect with Timbo.
1815: Murray takes three consecutive games to win the first set 6-3. He's looking good the boy.
1755: I quite like the way they try to organise these flagship matches to let punters catch the action when they return from a hard day at the office. Murray grabs an early break but is soon broken back and the score is 3-3 at the first set.
1720: Xavier Malisse has beaten Denis Gremelmayr, and will play the winner of the match between Andy Murray and Fabrice Santoro. Britain's No 1 makes his entrance on Centre Court - all the soap operas
1710: Nadal completes a straight sets win.
1640: Sharapova wraps up an easy straight sets win - safe to say she will have tougher tests in the days to come.
1625: The biggest surprise of the tournament to date - Davydenko loses against a spirited Becker 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
1610: Nadal takes the second set 6-4 and is well on the way to round two.
Maria Sharapova is taking on Stephanie Foretz on day two at Wimbledon. Click enlarge to see the full outift.
1550: There could be a major story on the infamous Court 2. Number four seed Nikolay Davydenko, of Russia, is two sets behind against Germany's Benjamin Becker.
1546: Maria Sharapova won't be hanging around too long. She canters to the opening set 6-1 against Stephanie Foretz.
1525: French Open champion Rafael Nadal takes the opening set 6-4 against Andreas Beck.
1510: Maria Sharapova makes her entrance. Despite her brilliance as a tennis player, there is no doubt Sharapova's beauty still commands much attention. And yes - as usual she looks fabulous.
1500: Richard Gasquet completes a comfortable victory against Mardy Fish in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
1428: Cavaday is swept aside in the second set and goes down 7-6, 6-1.
1425: BRITISH VICTORY British number one Anne Keothavong storms into the second round, taking the deciding set 6-3. Fans on Court 2 are understandably delighted.
1405: Williams wins the first set on a tie-break, but massive credit to Cavaday, she hasn't been overawed by the occasion.
Venus Williams was the first on Centre Court on the second day, with the defending champion taking on Britain's Naomi Cavaday.
1340: Normal service slowly being resumed on Centre Court, as Williams breaks back and leads 4-3. Keothavong strikes back to win the opening set.
1329: If you would like to share your thoughts about Wimbledon feel free to drop us a line. Maybe the prospects for Britain's number one Andy Murray, or who you think will win the ladies title. Or even your favourite memories of yesteryear. The address is: sport@dailymailonline.co.uk
1315: Cavaday isn't here to make up the numbers. She breaks the Williams serve in the opening game, then holds serve to go 2-0 ahead.
1300: Venus Williams makes her way onto Centre Court to take on Britain's Naomi Cavaday. Far too many people are enjoying the corporate facilities rather than watching the tennis. It is one of the main reasons why many of us can never love this event as much as we once did.
1247: Keothavong loses her serve at 4-5 down and King takes the opening set.
1232: Anne Keothavong is in early action. She is up against American Vania King on Court Two (which has been known as the graveyard court since I can remember and probably before). She breaks serve early, but King strikes back quickly and we could be in for a decent match.
1230: The sun is shining at Wimbledon and the crowds are large on this second day. Most of the attention from a British point of view will be on Andy Murray
British fans will be cheering on Andy Murray in his first round match against Fabrice Santoro
