Andy Murray has no plans to ditch coach ahead of US Open

Andy Murray will have Miles Maclagan at his side when he heads to Florida in two weeks for intensive training as he bids for a first US Open title, despite claims he is set to part with his coach.

Sources close to the British No1 insist no changes to Team Murray, headed by Maclagan, are planned, although the pressure on his coach to help deliver a first Slam title has increased following the Wimbledon semi-final defeat by Rafael Nadal.

Having lost the finals of the 2008 US Open and this year's Australian Open to Roger Federer and two successive semi-finals at SW19, Murray cannot seemingly find that extra element to take him to the finish line in the biggest tournaments in the sport.

Maclagan has helped Murray reach a career high No2 world ranking during three years as his coach.

However, recurring concerns over Murray's serve — particularly his second — allied to a perceived conflict about how aggressive he needs to be to achieve a Slam triumph, will increase the pressure on Maclagan if the Scot fails to shine at the US Open, which starts on 30 August.

The man being tipped to take over as Murray's guiding influence is Darren Cahill, who enjoyed success as coach to Lleyton Hewitt and Andre Agassi.

Cahill currently works as a tennis analyst for ESPN and is a highly-rated member of the adidas development team of coaches. The company sponsors Murray, who is their highest-ranked men's player.

A year ago, Cahill was linked to a coaching role with Roger Federer.

Murray has shown he is prepared to bring in a new coach when he feels the time is right, having already employed Britain's Mark Petchey and American Brad Gilbert, who was on a £750,000 Lawn Tennis Association contract which included looking after the 23-year-old.

Britain celebrated a Wimbledon triumph in the boys' doubles where an-all British battle ended with Liam Broady and Tom Farquharson defeating George Morgan an Lewis Burton 7-6, 6-4.

It was Britain's first boys' doubles title since Martin Lee and James Trotman lifted the title unseeded in 1995.
