Woods fired up to be the greatest Brit

Clinton Woods has vowed to silence Antonio Tarver's taunts in his world title defence tonight and become Britain's best ever light-heavyweight.

Sheffield's IBF champion Woods makes the fifth defence of his title in Tampa, Florida, and intends to repay Tarver's pre-fight goading.

Woods: big night

Woods, 35, claims that if he beats the American to extend his three-year reign as champion, he should be regarded as better than previous British world light-heavyweight champions such as John Conteh, Freddie Mills, Len Harvey and Bob Fitzsimmons.

Woods said: "Saturday will go down as my greatest victory. I will be the greatest British light-heavyweight, so it's massive for me. He's your typical, fast-talking arrogant Yank."
