Former England Test player Woolmer, 58, was found unconscious in his hotel room last month just a day after his side slumped to a shock defeat against Ireland in the World Cup group stage.

He was pronounced dead in hospital and police, led by deputy commissioner Mark Shields, later confirmed that they were conducting a murder investigation and believed he was strangled.

Meanwhile, Inzamam-ul-Haq, the man who served under Woolmer as Pakistan captain before retiring from one-day cricket after they were knocked out of the competition, has criticised security at the Pegasus hotel.

"Four international teams were staying in one hotel - what security arrangements were made for them? There should be an investigation," Inzamam told Geo television.

"We should raise this question with the World Cup hosts."

Inzamam also said that following the team's poor on-field showing at the World Cup, Pakistan should select an 'experienced coach' as Woolmer's successor.

Inzamam insisted he would not reverse his decision to end his limited-overs career but said he would throw his support behind whoever was chosen as his successor as Pakistan skipper in the Test arena.

"I would have no problem playing under any captain," he said.
