Didier Drogba not fully fit

Souleymane Bamba believes the injury that marred Didier Drogba's build-up the World Cup is still hampering the striker and was again evident when the Ivory Coast were beaten by Brazil on Sunday.

The Chelsea frontman broke his elbow in a friendly with Japan a week before the finals in South Africa kicked off.

He came on as a substitute in the goalless draw with Portugal on June 15, albeit with a protective cast, and played from the start in the 3-1 loss to Dunga's men over the weekend.

Drogba scored the only goal for the Elephants, but Hibernian defender Bamba feels he is still not fully fit.

"Didier is our captain and a massive influence on the side and it was a big disappointment with his injury," he told Scotland's Daily Record. "We can tell he is still not 100% fit.

"We can see he is not going into challenges as strongly now because he's scared to feel his arm again but his goal against Brazil will give him confidence."

The west Africans still have a mathematical chance of making the last 16, but their task was made virtually impossible after Portugal beat North Korea 7-0 yesterday.

Bamba added: "We can still make the last 16.

"After all, I didn't think England were going to draw their first two matches so anything is possible."
