Wright 'disgusted' by Jol's request for loyalty from Defoe

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has accused Spurs boss Martin Jol of mishandling Jermain Defoe's career.
The England striker has refused to sign a new contract at White Hart Lane after failing to get a run of starts in the side.
Jermain Defoe, seen here training with England, has dropped down the pecking order at Tottenham
Tottenham may decide to sell to prevent Defoe winding down his contract and leaving for free in the summer of 2009.
Jol has told his striker, who is fighting Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie Keane and Darren Bent for playing time, that he should sign a new deal and knuckle down to hard work.
But Wright said in his column in The Sun: "Despite what's happened at White Hart Lane, I still feel Jol is the right man for the job and deserves a chance.
"Yet I was disgusted when I heard the manager has told Jermain he has to show his loyalty to Spurs by signing a new contract.
"For the last few years, Jol has stuck Jermain on the bench when he deserved a run in the team.
"I know Jermain was badly advised at the start of his career with Charlton and West Ham but since he's been at Spurs you've never heard him moaning and he's always got on with the job.
"We speak regularly and he's always talking about keeping his head down and waiting for his chance. Fair play to him - great attitude.
"But Jol has shown him little respect and is just trying to take the pressure off himself."
