Yaya raises Toure family's low spirits

Kolo Toure had a night to forget on Tuesday, giving away a crucial penalty, but the Arsenal defender's brother Yaya gave the family reason to celebrate.

Yaya's goal sent Barcelona on the way to a Champions League semi-final with Manchester United, but the Spanish side's performance will not scare Sir Alex Ferguson.

Joy: Yaya's grabbed by Eto'o

Barcelona's defence often showed hesitancy and a lack of positional awareness. Carles Puyol was also booked, so he will miss the semi-final first leg.

Off-field unrest was caused by high-ranking club official Xavier Sala Martin claiming Barcelona are using injuries as an excuse to drop players who have been guilty of indiscipline.

Ronaldinho and Deco have been absent in recent weeks. Schalke made a purposeful start.

Halil Altintop and Jermaine Johnson came close before Kevin Kuranyi spurned an excellent 21st-minute chance.

Barcelona then started finding fluency in their passing. Bojan, dangerous throughout, dashed down the right and crossed low into the Schalke area, where Marcelo Bordon attempted to clear.

Bordonwatched his deflection hit the bar and loop back out to the edge of the six-yard box.

Toure was well placed to tuck in.

Barcelona took the attack to Schalke in the second half, with Thierry Henry missing a sitter from 10 yards.

Henry and Samuel Eto'o later combined to set up Andres Iniesta, whose 20-yard shot was saved well by Manuel Neuer. Barcelona did not rue those misses, though.
