You just have to get on with it, Celtic boss Strachan dismisses Rangers hope of season extension

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan added his voice to that of Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell, as he insisted there should be no extension to the SPL season to help ease fixture chaos for Rangers - should Walter Smith's side progress in the UEFA Cup.

Little sympathy: Gordon Strachan

Rangers chief executive Martin Bain hit back at Lawwell over the weekend, claiming opposition to an extension to the season was merely because the Parkhead club fear losing their championship crown.

Asked for his view, Strachan said: "I think we just have to get on with it. There was no extension in the league in 1983 when I was with Aberdeen. Willie Miller and Alex McLeish played about 73 games that season and Aberdeen got a good season out of that.

"We would advocate that you just get on with it."
