You've blown it now, Gilberto tells Spurs

Arsenal midfielder Gilberto today taunted Tottenham by insisting they have blown their best chance of reaching the Carling Cup final.

Spurs dominated the first leg of the semi-final, but Theo Walcott's late equaliser ensured the sides are still level going into the second leg at White Hart Lane in two weeks time.

Juande Ramos's side missed a host of chances to not only beat their rivals for the first time since 1999, but effectively win the tie. Arsenal are now 21 games unbeaten against Spurs and Gilberto admits his side were let off the hook.

Off the hook: Arsenal midfielder Gilberto

He said: "In the first half they created so many chances they could have killed the tie, but we escaped. They could have had two or three, but we didn't give them so much space in the second half and we managed to get a goal.

"We are still in it, we are still alive. We know we have a difficult game at White Hart Lane, but we know what we have to do.

"Maybe they are affected psychologically because they haven't beaten us for so long. I think it is hard to beat a team when you haven't done so for many years.

"It's important that we got the draw. It wasn't the result we wanted, but to get a draw after being 1-0 down was good."
