The Germans were left reeling by an impressive performance from their hosts as Daniel Cousin and Steven Davis bagged a goal apiece on a night when Adam, Barry Ferguson and Lee McCulloch could also have been on the scoresheet.
Rangers remain involved in four competitions and Adam declared afterwards: "It's not only about people being fearful of us in Europe, it's about being fearful in every game we play here."
He added: "It's a fantastic stadium and we have fantastic supporters. It's important to get good results at home and we have done that so far this season.
"We've also managed to do that on the road too. We're on a winning run. The more you win, the more confidence you get and we are flying at the moment.
"It's important we keep that going, keep working hard, and get the success that we strive for."
Adam is under no illusions about the second leg in Bremen next Thursday.
He added: "They are a good side. They are second in the Bundesliga and we knew it was going to be hard.
"We are only halfway there and we won't get carried away. Two-nil gives us a chance. We have given ourselves an opportunity but we have to work hard the way we did tonight and we will be looking forward to it when it comes.
"It could be an onslaught. We will have to work very hard not to concede. If we don't concede we go through to the quarter-finals but we know it will be hard."
