Adebayor happy at Arsenal

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor admits he is flattered to be linked with a move to Barcelona, but insists he is happy to stay put for the time being.

With Barca planning a wholesale change in their squad following a second successive season without silverware, the Catalan giants are reportedly ready to table a bid for the 24-year-old.

"That pleases me," Adebayor told French daily L'Equipe. "It's very flattering for a young Togolese who's only 24 to see that Barcelona or AC Milan are following him. But for the moment I'm very happy at Arsenal. We'll see what happens next."

Adebayor insists he wants to remain at the Gunners for next season and fire them to success after another disappointing season in North London.

The Togo international has enjoyed a fine campaign as the spearhead of the Gunners attack but his impressive personal haul of 30 goals, which saw him selected as part of the PFA Premier League team of the year, was not able to bring any silverware back to the Emirates.

"We were enjoying a dream season," Adebayor continued. "And then at the end, I don't know what happened.

"But I can tell you that we have learned from this. (Cesc) Fabregas, (Theo) Walcott and myself will all be a year older next season. That means more experience.

"Already I feel we have understood things. They must count on us next season.

"I did think that I'd have as good a year as I have had, because I always had the potential.

"But I also didn't think that, because if you'd told me that I would finish the season as second best goalscorer in England and that I was going to be picked in the team of the season I would have found it difficult to believe. But this encourages me to give even better, to get to an even higher level."
