Agar backs Yeaman for international clash

Hull coach Richard Agar believes centre Kirk Yeaman has recaptured his form in time for this week's international against France.

The 24-year-old Yeaman shared the right-centre role for Great Britain last year with Warrington's Martin Gleeson but has been in subdued form during his injury-hit side's dismal first half to the engage Super League season.

However, he produced a sparkling two-try performance in front of England coach Tony Smith in Hull's 36-22 defeat at Bradford on Sunday and Agar said: "Kirk is looking sharp. He's showing good appetite again."

Smith is sweating on the fitness of Yeaman's wing partner Gareth Raynor, who is a more likely inclusion if he shakes off a leg injury that caused him to miss Sunday's match.

Utility forward Sam Burgess, another likely England candidate, made a timely return from injury for the Bulls but he was upstaged by Fijian winger Semi Tadulala, whose barnstorming display helped Bradford get back to winning ways.

The former Wakefield flier typified the Bulls' superior power by scoring two of his side's seven tries against a Hull side lacking 10 first-team players through injury.

The victory enabled the Bulls to avenge their shock Challenge Cup defeat earlier this month but coach Steve McNamara was simply happy to avoid what would have been a club record fourth successive Super League defeat.

"We needed to win for our own reasons, not because of the Challenge Cup," he said.

"I hate saying it but the result was probably more important than the performance. We were anxious and probably looked like a petrol car with diesel in the tank."
