Alves celebrates Sevilla success

Sevilla defender Daniel Alves reflected on what he admits has been an "incredible" season after helping the Andalusian side win the Copa del Rey on Saturday night.

Frederic Kanoute`s 10th-minute strike was enough to see off Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu and meant Sevilla were able to celebrate their first Copa del Rey title since 1948.

It also meant Juande Ramos` side have now collected four trophies in little over 12 months, with two UEFA Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and now the Copa del Rey, and Alves said: "We are on a superb run of form. I hope it continues."

Sevilla also finished third in the Primera Liga in the recently-completed campaign to earn a Champions League spot for next season.

For a club who had previously only won four major titles in their history - with the latest being that 1948 cup success - it was been an unforgettable period for Sevilla.

Alves added: "We have set the bar very high and it has been an incredible season. I hope that the good form carries on. It is going to be difficult to repeat what we have done this year."

Coach Ramos said: "Obtaining the cup is an excellent climax to the season which the team has had.

"It has been magnificent, the cherry on the cake. The fans have supported us in Madrid and deserve to return home happy. We have been deserved winners."
