The Nottingham Arena will host Khan's next fight on October 6 but no opponent has been finalised and it is also undecided whether his Commonwealth lightweight title will be on the line.
But Khan is in no doubt that he is ready to conquer the world and said: "I've always said I want to be a young world champion. It's in my head and I have to go for it."
Khan won his first major title and 13th professional fight nine days ago when Willie Limond retired with a broken jaw and nose after eight thrilling rounds at London's O2 Arena.
But he had to survive a sixth-round knockdown by an opponent regarded as a light puncher, exposing a suspect chin and indicating predictions of winning a world title so early in his career may be premature.
However the 20-year-old from Bolton, who turns 21 in December, sees no reason to alter his target.
"It's my ambition to do it. I want to go somewhere, be someone. It was like at the Olympic Games - people were saying it wasn't going to happen for me," he said.
"But I went there and I did it. A year is a long time. I've been a professional for two years. In a year I'll be stronger and better. Look how far I've come after 13 fights in a tough division which has a lot of good fighters in. I'm going in the right direction."
Warren believes Khan's ability to rescue a fight from the brink of disaster and dismantle the courageous Limond proves he has the heart to match his skills.
But the promoter has branded his protege's talk of challenging for a world title so soon as "ridiculous".
