Anderson injured as England face chase

Yorkshire's Hoggard responded to the latest setback in stunning fashion with a five wicket haul at the Nondescripts Cricket Club.
Having conceded a 164-run deficit on the first innings, Michael Vaughan's team were left without a frontline paceman to partner Hoggard when Anderson complained of discomfort in his left ankle. It was another blow for England after Steve Harmison suffered a back spasm on Sunday. On Monday he was receiving treatment and swimming in a bid to ease the problem.
If thoughts naturally turned to the limited selection options shaping up ahead of Saturday's opening Test in Kandy, Hoggard at least put a positive slant on it with an opening burst which left the hosts in tatters.
His spell of 9-3-25-5 sent the Sri Lankans crashing to 77 for eight and set up a potential victory chase on Tuesday.
Earlier it had been Ravi Bopara's fierce return drive, in a top score of 47, which thundered into leg-spinner Kaushal Lokuarachchi's bowling hand and left him unlikely to play a further part in the match.
Left with only the tail for company, Bopara attempted to make hay while he could, only to perish going for a third boundary in one over - moments later England were dismissed.
Captain Michael Vaughan, Ian Bell and Kevin Pietersen all succumbed to the new ball to leave the response to the hosts' 298 for nine declared in disarray.
Alastair Cook looked to be in nice touch in his innings of 35, while Owais Shah contributed 26 in England's paltry total of 134.
Sujeewa de Silva, who is in the Sri Lankans' 14-man Test squad, was the destroyer in chief claiming figures of four for 41.
