The 20-year-old Nigeria international is believed to have had a row with Moyes during training on Tuesday as the Toffees were preparing for the 211th Merseyside derby, when Everton face a fourth-round replay with Liverpool at Goodison Park.
But sources at the club maintain there was no face-to-face swearing match and the player was escorted from the training ground by physios.
An Everton spokesman, however, said: "We have absolutely no comment to make."
Anichebe is believed to have been upset a deadline-day loan to Hull failed to materialise, at the same time as his first-team chances were being put into further doubt by the loan arrival of Brazilian striker Jo from Manchester City.
Anichebe, despite Everton's severe injury problems in the striking department, has seen his chances limited by the use of midfielders Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini up front.
And even though young reserve forward Lukas Jutkiewicz has joined Huddersfield on loan - restricting Moyes' choices further - Anichebe may not be in the squad on Wednesday night for a match that already sees Jo cup-tied.
The former Toffees trainee has scored only 11 goals for the Toffees since making his debut for the first team in 2006.
