Aquilani to shun Gunners

Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani is set to remain with the club despite reports linking him with a move to Arsenal this month.

The 24-year-old is close to extending his contract with the Serie A outfit, with his current deal ending in June 2009, according to his agent Franco Zavaglia.

"We are very close to reaching an agreement with Roma," said Zavaglia. "There are still minor points to clarify but I believe the agreement will be sealed by the beginning of February."

The Italy international is set to sign a four-year contract extension with the capital club.
