Wiki, who retired from the international scene after winning a world-record 55th cap in November's Tri-Nations Series final, made the announcement at a centenary luncheon at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.
The 25-year-old Asotasi made his debut against Australia in 2004 and will win his 17th cap at the Suncorp Stadium.
He will lead a Kiwi squad that includes three 20-year-old debutants after coach Brian McClennan confirmed Parramatta rookie Krisnan Inu as full-back and named New Zealand Warriors prop Sam Rapira and Brisbane half-back Greg Eastwood on the bench.
Back-row forward Sonny Bill Williams and stand-off Benji Marshall are reunited after missing the 2006 Tri-Nations Series through injury.
