Ban for Freshwater

England prop Perry Freshwater has been suspended for four weeks after pleading guilty to striking London Irish lock Kieron Roche.

Freshwater was cited after he lashed out during Perpignan's Heineken Cup victory on Saturday and left Roche with a fractured eye-socket.

An independent disciplinary committee ruled the incident to be a "mid-range" offence and handed down a four-week suspension, which starts on Wednesday.

Freshwater will miss one Heineken Cup match for Perpignan, against the already-eliminated Treviso, and two French championship games.

Freshwater will be available to play again on January 16, three days before Perpignan's final Heineken Cup Pool One clash with Newport Gwent Dragons.
