The former England captain has missed the American side's last three games with an ankle injury and has made just one brief appearance for the MLS club - in a friendly against Chelsea last month - following his move from Real Madrid.

Yallop told The Sun: "David has not mentioned England to me. I don't think he is worrying about England at the moment.

He added: "He wants to get fit and start playing for us.

"I am sure England will give him every chance to get fit for their game.

"But he has not been playing, he has not been in full training yet - so it would be a lot to ask.

"We will just have to see how it bears up."
