Benitez intrigued by Arsenal clash
15 January 2008
The Reds have a Barclays Premier League clash at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, April 5 sandwiched in between their Champions League away and home legs.
"It will be a strange situation to play against them three times in a week but we will see what happens," Benitez told www.Liverpoolfc.tv.
He added: "Normally it's difficult to play three games like this and compete at the maximum level without changing players. It will all depend on the players and whether they will be fit for each game.
"We were expecting to play against a top side so we knew Arsenal could be one of the options but we will approach the game with confidence because we are playing well.
"Playing the second game at home could be very positive for us because always when we play at Anfield it is an inspiration to us. When you play against a good team the small details can make the difference."
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted he would rather have avoided meeting a Barclays Premier League side at this stage of the competition.
"You would ideally prefer European opposition, but you know that you will have to play an English team at some stage if you want to go to the final," Wenger said.
"What is very important on the day is that you are at your best, to raise your game on the day, because it is a cup game.
"In a Premier League game you can concede a goal, in the Champions League you have seen with Inter against Liverpool, and for us against Milan, how vital it is not to concede at home."
