Benitez lays it on line for Liverpool

Rafael Benitez insists Liverpool will not approach their Champions League quarter-final clash against PSV Eindhoven with complacency despite holding an emphatic lead from the first leg.

The Reds won 3-0 last week at the Philips Stadion prompting opposition manager Ronald Koeman to say he would "have to be from another planet" to believe his team could stop Liverpool reaching the semi-finals.

But Benitez, who is adamant his team will remain focused and remember their own comeback in the final two years ago, told the club's official website, www.liverpoolfc.tv: "We know there have been comebacks from 3-0 down in the Champions League - we did it in Istanbul. These kinds of games are difficult."

He added: "Sometimes teams say 'okay, the job is done'. But we have to be careful. We know if they score an early goal they will push forward and we could have problems.

"We must approach the game the same as we did against Barcelona and try to win. We do not go into the game thinking a draw will be enough. We need to go for a win.

"Hopefully we will reach the semi-final of the Champions League and I hope we can be sure we are in the top four so we can concentrate on that."
