Goals from Xabi Alonso, Yossi Benayoun and Steven Gerrard gave them a 3-1 victory over Blackburn at Ewood Park. It was just the result Benitez was looking for after successive goalless draws against Fulham and West Ham.
"We have shown we can manage the pressure. When you have a game like this, you know you might have problems," said Benitez.
"But we were more clinical than other days and that is important with the Christmas programme coming up."
Rovers have now gone 10 league games without a win and remain in the relegation zone.
But under-pressure manager Paul Ince was heartened by his team's display and believes they can re-build in the coming weeks.
"It was an exceptional performance. We have not got the three points but we have to take some positives from the game."
