Big heart keeps Brawn at front
04 January 2009
Brawn was left "lost for words" following the one-two in Monaco 10 days ago, their third of the season as Jenson Button led home team-mate Rubens Barrichello for his fifth victory in six races.
"It has my name on it, but the team is a team, a group of people who are all doing a fantastic job," said Brawn. "I'm trying to be a bit of a catalyst and help things along, so it carries my name, but it is a fantastic group of people."
The Brawn GP car has now triumphed around a park in Australia, the streets of Monte Carlo, the wet in Malaysia and the heat of Bahrain - proving it is one for all seasons and surfaces.
Yet regardless of their crushing dominance this year, Brawn and Button insist thoughts are far from the drivers' or constructors' titles with 11 rounds still remaining.
That is despite the fact the team have a healthy 43.5-point lead over Red Bull Racing, and Button heads Barrichello by 16 points, and more importantly Sebastian Vettel by 28.
Brawn has been in this position before during his time at Ferrari when he was technical director and Michael Schumacher ruled the roost.
The difference now, of course, is that this team bears his name, although he is keen to pass on the credit where it is due.
"We are obviously doing it (this season) with a lot less resources than Ferrari, so it's a different approach," added Brawn.
"This is a small boutique team as opposed to what Ferrari was. It will probably be more difficult for us to keep it going in some ways, but everybody is achieving more than you might expect. We've got the heart of a big team, even if we are a small team."
