Kallon was spotted leaving St. Andrews after watching a much changed Blues side overcome Hereford 2-1 in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.
Bruce said: "If we could find a striker, we are always looking for a striker. Let's wait and see what develops."
It is believed the the Sierra Leone international, 27, is available for an initial loan transfer with a view to a possible permanent transfer.
Bruce has known of Kallon's abilities for some time and he was previously with Inter Milan and most recently has had a loan spell with Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad.
The City chief is still hopeful of tying up a deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder Peter Luccin. But in case that falls through he is keeping tabs on Marseille attack-minded midfielder Modeste N'Bami.
Bruce is desperate to bring in a player of that ilk by midnight on Friday after failing to secure the services of Arsenal's Mathieu Flamini and Tottenham's Hossam Ghaly.
The Cameroon international, 24, was previously with Paris St. Germain and helped his country win a gold medal at the Sydney Olympics seven years ago.
Bruce said: "Everyone knows the kind of midfield player we are looking for and we will keep trying to bring someone in by Friday."
He admitted there had been a "complication" in the £2 million Luccin transfer which is why N'Bami is also on his radar.
