Bolton in Ben Haim bid

Bolton have launched a last-ditch bid to try and keep Israel defender Tal Ben Haim at the Reebok Stadium.

Ben Haim is out of contract in the summer and appeared to play his last game for the club in the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday, however he revealed he had been approached by chairman Phil Gartside after the match to extend his stay at the UEFA Cup contenders.

Ben Haim said: "I have finished the contract, everybody knows that. The chairman caught me after the game and we talked but it is a long summer, so let's keep it like that for now."

He added: "I don't want to talk about it any more because I want a few days now to take a break from everything, to relax and then I can make up my mind."
