Bolton: Megson report rubbish

22 January 2009
One Sunday newspaper has claimed Bolton are already making plans to replace Megson with the highly-rated Coyle, who has performed an outstanding job at Burnley since arriving from St Johnstone in November 2007.
Yet the Trotters have refuted the claims and have described the report as "unfounded, wholly inaccurate and misleading speculation".
A club spokesman added: "It is just rubbish."
Megson has been in charge at the Reebok Stadium since October 2007 and kept the club in the Barclays Premier League against the odds last term.
However, he has failed to win over a section of supporters and was verbally abused after the 2-2 draw at Blackburn on January 28.
Coyle is highly regarded at Bolton after a brief spell as a player in the mid-1990s when he helped the club to win promotion to the top flight.
Since entering management, he has earned a reputation as one the game's brightest young bosses and has this season guided Burnley to victories over Fulham, Chelsea and Arsenal in the Carling Cup.
