Boro set to seal Woodgate switch

Middlesbrough have called a press conference for this afternoon at which they are expected to reveal Jonathan Woodgate has completed a permanent switch to the Riverside Stadium.

The 27-year-old joined his home-town club on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid in August, but is now understood to have agreed to commit his future to the Teessiders.

Boro negotiated first option on the former Leeds and Newcastle defender when they set up the loan move and have since been working to persuade Woodgate to join the club he supported as a boy.
