Boyd hopes to be back in favour

Scotland striker Kris Boyd is hoping his second goal in four days will help him win back his starting place for club and country.

The Scots were toiling against South Africa in Aberdeen until the Rangers striker replaced Kenny Miller in the 68th minute and scored a winner.

He said: "It was a great ball by Darren Fletcher in the first place and I managed to get on the end of it. Hopefully I can get myself back in for my club and then my country, that is my main aim."

He added: "South Africa had plenty of possession, dominated most of the game but didn't really create much.

"This result gives us more confidence going into the games against Lithuania then France, we know that they are going to be hard but we will keep plugging away.

"You will need to ask the gaffer if I will be playing but I will keep plugging away and hopefully I will get back in the team."
