Bracewell to decide on McCullum

New Zealand Cricket chief Justin Vaughan will leave a decision over Brendon McCullum's continued participation in the Indian Premier League to coach John Bracewell.

The Black Caps vice-captain had been told to join the tour party in England on May 1, but has admitted he would find it hard leave the IPL cauldron for the warm-up leg of the tour.

"It's going to be hard to leave this," McCullum told The Dominion Post. "This is where it is all happening, but having said that I understand that there is a tour to England about to begin which is really important."

He added: "But the couple of warm-up games before the Test are going to seem incredibly low key when compared to what is going on here."

The IPL play-offs coincide with the New Zealand Test series against England.

Should Kolkata or McCullum look to extend his stay, Vaughan told The Herald on Sunday a decision would be the coach's to make.

"I'd leave it up to John but it seems pretty unlikely," he said.

"If it was between the Tests and the one-day series perhaps, but I'd say it's pretty unlikely in this scenario."

McCullum is currently scheduled to leave India on Wednesday and link up with his compatriots for their first-class game against Essex next weekend.
