Brave Huddersfield fight back

Huddersfield's rollercoaster season continues to flit from the ridiculous to the sublime after they produced a stunning second-half fightback to arrest their recent slump with a 24-23 win over Wakefield.

The Giants were 13-0 behind at the break after an abject first-half display but their response after the restart was emphatic as they ran in four tries in 13 minutes to leave Wakefield stunned.

Yet Trinity refused to surrender and two tries from hooker Sam Obst in the final quarter ensure a tense finale, though the Giants held on for a morale-boosting success.

The sequence of scoring in an absorbing encounter summed up Huddersfield's topsy-turvy season but ultimately encouraged hopes that, far from being sucked into a relegation dogfight, a place in the engage Super League play-off places is firmly within their grasp.

The Giants' biggest problem is consistency - they began their campaign with seven defeats on the bounce but then hit form to claim seven straight wins.

However, their recent results had been miserable, with just one point taken from their previous five games prior to their arrival at Belle Vue.
